Local Craft Beer – Featuring Terrapin Brewery in June

What do you guys love more than anything? Oh, we know. It’s local craft beer! As you may already know, we show our appreciation at Freight Kitchen & Tap by highlighting a brewery of the month. For May, it was Scofflaw Brewing from Atlanta, GA. But for June, we have another one of your favorite breweries in mind…

Straight out of Athens, GA, we present our June brewery of the month – Terrapin Beer Co. If you live in Georgia and know anything about local craft beer, you drink Terrapin. How did Terrapin start, you may ask? Founders John Cochran and Spike Buckowski shared a dream while working in a microbrewery together in Atlanta, where they met. Not much later in April of 2002, Rye Pale Ale made its way into Athens, GA. About six months later, said beer traveled to Denver for the Great American Beer Festival. Who knew that John and Spike would take home a gold medal for Rye Pale Ale? In 2007, Terrapin moved into its current location in Athens. Inspired by Athens’ creative culture, it wasn’t long before Terrapin broadened its beer lineup with unique beers like Wake n Bake and Hopsecutioner. The Terrapin team continues to live by its mission statement, “to create unique experiences through the passionate brewing of the finest quality craft beers”.

Stop into Freight any time in June for a $6 Terrapin draft. If you’re lucky, you’ll get your hands on a hip complimentary Terrapin pint glass to take home. $6 still too expensive for you? No problem. Stop by any Monday for $4 craft on draft. And that’s not just Terrapin beer, that’s for ANY beer. We do this deal every Monday. We always have and we always will. It keeps the good folks coming back and we love that.
