Have you met the new head chef in downtown Woodstock, GA? He’s not just the newest chef in town, he’s Freight Kitchen & Tap’s newly elected head chef! And his name is Caleb Schmidt. If you haven’t gotten around to checking out Freight’s recently updated menu, you’re truly missing out. Caleb is who we need to thank for all its nips and tucks.
But who is this Caleb dude? What do we know about him? Well, he’s certainly seasoned because he’s been in the restaurant industry since he was 15 years young. Not many folks can stick around that long! We’re so lucky Caleb has. His first job was a busboy at a restaurant in Alabama. Eventually, he worked his way up to a server at Ruby Tuesday when his family moved to LaGrange, GA. When we found him, he was making a living as assistant kitchen manager at Olive Garden in Kennesaw, GA. We yanked him over to Freight Kitchen & Tap and we’re so glad we did. He is thriving here with us. Not to mention, Caleb is a true southern boy and Freight is a true southern restaurant!
One thing we really love about Caleb is his since of humor. He considers himself “stoic like Qui-Gon Jinn from Star Wars”. We couldn’t agree more. He has a way of keeping his cool and the kitchen afloat when things get upbeat.
Come on in and meet Chef Caleb for yourself! He’s always willing to take a few minutes out of his day to meet the guests who keep our lights on. He’s here pretty much every day, so it’s hard to miss him. You can’t miss him anyway because he’s the only Freight staff member who rocks anything Chicago Bears related. We don’t know why he does it, but we just accept him the way he is.
