Spring Brings New Local Craft Beers

Springtime brings lots of things – rain, flowers, every college student’s favorite week (spring break) – but do you know what it brings to Freight? New local craft beers. You know we love anything local, especially craft beers, so we recently decided to celebrate a different brewery each month. May’s brewery of the month is Red Hare Brewing. Located in Marietta, GA since 2011, Red Hare is an award-winning microbrewery that distributes to practically the entire southeast region. In 2012, they were the first Georgia brewery to can their beer. Not only do they offer beer, they also make craft sodas that you can buy at grocery stores. The folks at Red Hare are great friends and partners of ours, so we dedicate the month of May to them.

Come out to downtown Woodstock Friday May 4thforFriday Night Live. Hang with us at the Red Hare beer tent right outside the restaurant in our rock garden. We will have Long Day Lager, Soft J IPA, Gem City Classic Lager, and the seasonal Bless Her Tart Berliner Weisse. If you miss out, no problem. They will be with us again Saturday May 12thfor the first concert of Woodstock’s summer concert series.

In other news, did you know that Freight recently won an award for best dessert at Taste and Sound of Woodstock? Our hummingbird cake outshined desserts from two of the most popular dessert shops in downtown Woodstock, Pie Bar and Cupcakelicious. Hummingbird cake is a banana-pineapple spice cake common in the south, so it makes sense why it was a hit. You can order this cake at Freight and if you know anyone with a birthday coming up, they can eat it for free! Note that anyone who chooses to spend their birthday with us gets dessert on the house. Also note that all Red Hare drafts are only $6 throughout the month of May. What a time to be alive.
