Did you know the Freight team recently took a tour of CalyRoad Creamery in Sandy Springs, GA? Freight is proud to call CalyRoad Creamery a local partner. In fact, we’re so proud that we now work with them to create a Freight exclusive cheese.
If you dine at Freight, surely, you’re familiar with our Georgia cheese plate appetizer. While the cheese selection has rotated in the past, this is the first time we’ve featured an exclusive cheese. What could be more intimate than farm to table? Try farm to Freight then to creamery and finally back to Freight for your table. Sound confusing? Nah, it’s quite simple. Let’s peel back the layers (pun intended).
The Vidalia onion is Georgia’s official state vegetable, named after the state’s onion hub, Vidalia, GA. As a nod to our great state, we import Vidalia spring onions from the deep south. We then export these onions to our local partner, CalyRoad. At this point, we are on to phase three. CalyRoad uses fresh goat curd, the Vidalia onions, dry mustard, and mustard seed to create a delectable artisan goat cheese. Talk about a Georgia cheese plate that features cheese made with our own soil’s vegetables. If that doesn’t scream southern, we’re doing it wrong.
Does a Georgia cheese plate seem tempting right about now? Come visit us! Ask your server about our new monthly beverage specials. Freight offers $6 brewery of the month drafts in addition to $9 glasses of monthly red/white wines. Wine pairs excellently with our Georgia cheese plate, a match made in heaven. It’s certainly warm enough to spend some time outside on our animal friendly patio. Our servers even provide water bowls to both dogs and cats. Yes, we occasionally witness guests with cats (even service cats). Enjoy a spring outing at Freight.
