Growing Local …Our Partner Farms

It seems that spring came roaring into Metro Atlanta much faster than in years past, and now we are in the throes of a typical hot GA summer, but a summer in Northwest Georgia can mean a bountiful harvest from the hard working farmers of our region. Fruits and vegetables, including peaches, pecans, onions, tomatoes, and watermelon, are important commodities in Georgia. The culinary team at FREIGHT is working with local farmers, master gardeners and green enthusiasts to source native, local food crops from peas, and greens, to all kinds of fresh fruit.  Our approach to selecting these wonderful ingredients are simple, first and whenever possible we taste it, we ask the farmer how they would use their goods and how others have used them, and finally we keep the recipe plan simple to let the most natural flavors come out.  This summer we’ll be working directly with farmers all over the Metro area and some from right in our own backyard.  Here’s a short list of our current farm partners:

Buckeye Creek Farm, Hickory Flat

Rockin S Farm,  Canton

Cagle Farm & Dairy, Canton

Sweewater Growers, Canton

Sweetgrass Dairy, Thomasville

Hometown Honey, Kennesaw

Mountain Valley Farms, Elijay

Merrilliy Gardens, Woodstock
