Summer is OFFICIALLY here! With this heat, it’s hard to believe we just finished spring. But now that it’s truly summer, we can look forward to the best event of the season – the 4thof July parade in downtown Woodstock, GA! Next Thursday, July 4th, the streets of Woodstock will be flooded with folks enjoying Independence Day festivities. There’s more to look forward to than just the parade. It’s a whole July 4thSpectacular.
For you athletic early birds, the 23rdannual Freedom Run 5k, 1 Mile, and Tot Trot starts at 7:15 AM. After that, cool down and watch the parade at 10 AM. It starts at Woodstock Elementary on Rope Mill Road, travels down Main St., and ends at Sam’s Club near Hwy 92. Finally, there’s a festival from 11 AM to 3 PM at the Park at City Center (101 Arnold Mill Road). Enjoy food, arts, crafts, music by A Theory of Now Band, activities for kids, and much more. Finish the day with fireworks at dusk in the Target shopping center on Hwy 92. We just planned your whole 4thof July. You’re welcome.
Back to the parade topic… what’s the best way to take the edge off while your children scream at the floats for candy? Grab a yummy 4thof July inspired drink from Freight’s indoor bar or a Red Hare (July brewery of the month) can from our outdoor bar! Indoor drink specials include the Firecracker (Bacardi dragonberry rum, lemonade, blue curacao, grenadine), ‘Merican Mojito (Bacardi lime rum, strawberry syrup, mint, blueberry, strawberry, club soda), and Red, White, Blue Colada (ice cream, Admiral Nelson’s coconut rum, blue curacao, pineapple juice, grenadine). Outside, choose from Red Hare 50/50 Lemon Lime, Red Hare Gem City, or Red Hare Rewired IPA. For the kiddos and nondrinkers, coffee and soda are also available.
Everyone be safe and have happy 4th!
