It was First Friday in downtown Woodstock! The theme for August is Carnival and the staff at Freight Kitchen and Tap showed the spirit of the event with their creative costumes. From the bearded lady to exotic gypsy woman, the servers at Freight added to the fun of the surrounding events. They served delicious burgers, shrimp and grits, pork braises, and wings while watching the Olympic Opening ceremonies.
Wonderful music played just across the tracks and could be enjoyed from our back deck. This was such a treat for us. It added to the experience of being in the heart of downtown. They really knew how to belt out “Down By the Riverside” with a great trumpet solo to take it to the next level. Bravo!!
Families and friends could walk around downtown and see many fun ways to pass the time. There was fresh cotton candy to let melt in your mouth. There were custom jewelry makers showing their wares. There was a long line for the balloon art man. He made elaborate balloon animals and sculptures for the kids and adults alike. Who can resist a balloon hat?
Carnival was a fun way to spend our First Friday of August 2016.
